Marshall Middle School and McLane Elementary School have each been recognized as a 2018 School of Distinction. The award is presented annually to the top 5 percent of schools statewide that have made sustained improvement over the past five years in English language arts and math.

The Olympia School Board is seeking input from OSD students, families, employees and community members about a proposed districtwide student dress code policy and procedure. While individual schools have rules around student dress code, currently there is no districtwide policy or procedure.

Flag lowered half-staff
Flags lowered to half-staff through December 31
Acting Governor Duane Davidson has directed that all Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities, including schools and support buildings, be lowered to half-staff, December 2, in memory of former United States President George H.W. Bush who passed away on November 30, 2018. Flags will remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Monday, December 31, 2018.

The employees learned of the honor during surprise announcements at impromptu morning staff meetings. The news was greeted with applause, standing ovations and hugs.

As part of our commitment to providing awareness and education around digital citizenship and digital health and well-being, The Olympia School District is excited to provide an opportunity for you and your family to watch 'Screenagers', a film about the impact of the digital age on our children, and strategies to find balance within it. This film follows a Seattle doctor and her teenage daughter, as they navigate their way into and through the digital age.
