High School: Summer School Program (Grades 9-12)

 

HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAM:

Registration for our High School Summer Program is at capacity and is now closed.

 


 

To register a student please fill out this Google Form.

 

  • Grades 9 – 12: Including select courses for incoming ninth-graders.
  • All courses utilize computer-based instruction and students will work remotely but will be provided opportunities for in-person support and assessments.
  • Tests must be completed in person at Olympia Regional Learning Academy.
  • Students should plan to work approximately three hours per day.
  • The deadline to register is Friday, June 30, 2023.

LOCATION: Remote with In-person support and assessments at ORLA

 

STUDENT STATUS, CREDITS:

 

  • Credit Recovery: Retake only portions of a course necessary to earn credit in a course that was not completed
  • Initial credit: Courses a student is taking for the first time
  • Continuing Senior: Students beyond 4 years of high school
  • Grade Replacement: Replace a low grade (not failed). Course must be coded the same as the original as determined by the school district.

 

COSTS:

 

  • Credit Recovery: $150. Free/Reduced-Price Lunch students: $0
  • Initial Credit/Grade Replacement: $150. Free/Reduced-Price Lunch students pay $50.

DATES AND TIMES:

 

  • July 5 – August 10, 2023 (Registration deadline June 30, 2023)
  • Monday – Thursday from 9 AM – 12 PM

 

Online/remote course options will not be continued for initial credit into the regular school year. Courses must be completed by August 10, 2023.

 

 


 

FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS INTERESTED IN HIGH SCHOOL COURSES:

 Additionally, current 8th graders interested in retaking certain courses (e.g. Algebra, Geometry, Washington State History) may register for these summer school. Washington State History may only be taken by a student who has already taken the course and did not pass. This course will satisfy the graduation requirement for Washington State History, but does not bear credit. Some initial credit Elective courses are also available to incoming 9th grade students, but costs apply ($50-$150, based on need). These courses utilize the Edgenuity online curriculum (with in-person testing at ORLA), and will NOT be continued into the regular school year—all initial courses for high school credit must be completed by August 10, 2023. The deadline to register for High School Summer School is June 30, 2023.

Elementary School: Summer School Program (Grades 1-4)

 

UPDATE: Registration for grades 2-3 at Garfield Elementary School is still open! Registration for all other grades and locations is now closed.

 


 

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAM

 This program is FREE OF CHARGE and open to current OSD students. Classes begin on July 5 and run through July 27. The class schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

 

  •  Grades 1-4, current OSD students who are reading below grade level or need additional support.
  • Registration is limited due to staffing and facilities.
  • Elementary summer school will be held at Roosevelt Elementary School (eastside) and Garfield Elementary School (westside).
  • Lunch will be provided at no cost.
  • Transportation is not provided.
