Budget Planning Survey open until March 31

Each spring as the district plans the next school year’s budget, students, staff, families and community members are asked to share their priorities for how the district should spend its local, federal and state resources. ​ ​We encourage all OSD students, staff, families and community members to take the 2024-25 Budget Planning Survey. The survey is estimated to take about 15 minutes to complete and is open until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2024. Results will be shared with the Olympia School Board in April 2024.

Countdown to Kindergarten: April 13, 2024

​ We would like to welcome the students and families from the Class of 2037 to join us at our annual Olympia School District 'Countdown to Kindergarten' event. This exciting and informative event is open to all parents/guardians who have children entering kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year. This event is open to all in-district and out-of-district families. Note: Students must be 5 years old by August 31, 2024 to enter kindergarten in the 2024-25 school year.

2024-25 Transfer Requests Now Accepted

New and renewal transfer requests are now being accepted for the 2024-25 school year. ​ Any student desiring to attend (or continue to attend) school in the Olympia School District, outside of their regular attendance area, must apply for a transfer. Parents and legal guardians need to submit their student’s name(s) to the district via a Choice Transfer Request to be considered for transfer.

Registration is open for Early Learning Programs

Olympia School District Early Childhood programs are now accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year. Located at many of our elementary school sites, OSD early childhood programs offer free and low-cost preschool options for all students. These options include Transition to Kindergarten, Developmental Preschool, and Early Support Services ("Birth-to-Three").

2024 Legislative Priorities

The Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Olympia School District No. 111, Thurston County, Washington (the “District”) identifies that the Olympia School District will face funding shortfalls in the 2024-25 school year and beyond. The shortfalls are caused, in part, by long-term structural inequitable funding mechanisms and underfunded state or federal requirements. These shortfalls are exacerbated by enrollment declines.

School Facility Efficiency Review Update

The following is an update of work that has been done, as well as next steps, in the School Facility Efficiency Review process. ​ Background In late August 2023, the Olympia School Board received an analysis of enrollment trends and a long-term enrollment forecast from Flo Analytics in Seattle. That analysis showed that districtwide enrollment has declined in recent years and is projected to continue to decline by nearly 1,000 students over the next 10 years. The lower enrollment projected is due to a variety of factors, including housing trends and declining births — issues not unique to our district.
