Olympia Education Foundation logoWhat is the Olympia Education Foundation?

The Olympia School District helped conceive the nonprofit Olympia Education Foundation* to meet emerging needs quickly and strategically across the District. Since its inception in 1998, the Foundation has been a proud partner of the District’s, awarding more than $2.5 million to projects in every school that support the Foundation’s mission to empower every student.

How does the Olympia Education Foundation support our students and schools?

Teaching and Learning Grants

Teaching and Learning grants fund requests that are consistent with and supportive of the District’s vision of teaching and learning. Available in amounts of up to $2,000 four times throughout the school year, grants support educators and schools working to: enhance student learning, address opportunity gaps, and meet needs that the District and individual buildings cannot. Apply for grants at https://www.olyedfoundation.org/grants.

Principal’s Emergency Fund

The Principal's Emergency Fund (PEF) was created in 1998 to ensure that principals, counselors and teachers can immediately assist students who have urgent basic needs – anything from shoes, to eyeglasses, to groceries, to utility assistance, to help paying rent. Contact your principal if you identify a student in need. https://www.olyedfoundation.org/principals-emergency-fund.

Mental Health Initiative

Mental Health Initiative (MHI) supports the District’s student outcomes related to student mental health and social-emotional learning. In 22-23, the MHI is funding grants that specifically address these issues. Counselors, social workers, behavior technicians and social justice staff are encouraged to apply: www.osdef.org/mentalhealthinitiative.

Outdoor Education

Through wreath sales, the Foundation helps support overnight outdoor education for all fifth-graders. https://www.olyedfoundation.org/outdoor-education.
